I have been so impressed with not only the actual actigraph but also with the customer service. The MTI ActiGraphs have been perfect for my study. I have also been really impressed with the data printouts, including the Excel kcal spreadsheet and the graphical pictures of the activity levels. Most importantly, my customer representative, Craig Karlin, has been truly awesome! He has gone way out of his way to help me access and understand every aspect of this product. He genuinely seemed excited to help his customers out! It is so nice and refreshing to get such one-on-one attention! My positive experience with MTI will cause me, and my co-workers at the University of Texas, to continue to use their products.

MY DOG ATE MY ACTIGRAPH
In order to gain a better understanding of what our research participants experience in our research project, all research assistants on our team are required to wear the MTI Actigraph for a couple of days prior to data collection. In one instance, one of our research assistants took her Actigraph off when she went to take a shower. Unfortunately, her dog found the monitor and chewed on it. However, the monitor "survived" the attack and it is still working."

We have used the MTI AM-7164 Actigraph extensively over the last four years, in our research on the objective measurement of physical activity in children. The quality of the hardware has been consistently good and we have demonstrated that inter-instrument differences in accelerometer output when tested in-vitro is small (Fairweather et al 1999 Pediatric Exercise Science 11: 414-421). We have also found that the after-sales service has been outstanding: MTI have made great efforts to support our use of the instruments over the years. This has taken the form of advice on the use of the accelerometers; their writing/modifying of software to suit our particular applications; loan/low cost rental of equipment while we established the method. The accelerometers have performed well in demanding circumstances (studies of representative samples of young children), and they are sufficiently robust that we have had no problems in obtaining almost all the data we set out to obtain. Our studies on the validity of the Actigraph as a measure of physical activity in young children have also been very encouraging.

"The Actigraph is a great way to assess energy expenditure, especially in a group fitness class. As an instructor wearing the actigraph monitor, I am able to give realistic caloric output numbers to my classes. With that knowledge, I know that having real statistics really helps motivate my students."

"My colleagues and I have been using the Actigraph for several years now, and we continue to use it in all our current studies. I have found it to be a measure of physical activity that has shown its value time and time again."

"The MTI actigraph activity monitor is an outstanding instrument to assess activity patterns in both children and adults. Laboratory and field studies indicate that it is accurate and reliability is excellent. The presence of this monitor in the market has allowed physical activity researchers to objectively assess physical activity and daily patterns of activity over several days which is desirable to better characterize habitual physical activity. The small size of the monitor is attractive as it does not interfere with normal activity in children as young as 3 years of age."
